A FLY bit the bare head of a Bald Man who, endeavoring to destroy it, gave himself a heavy slap. Escaping, the Fly said mockingly, "You who have wished to revenge, even with death, the Prick of a tiny insect, see what you have done to yourself to add insult to injury?' The Bald Man replied, "I can easily make peace with myself, because I know there was no intention to hurt. But you, an ill-favored and contemptible insect who delights in sucking human blood, I wish that I could have killed you even if I had incurred a heavier penalty."

A fortnight ago we covered the impending release of indie developer James Swiney's action-adventure game Aruna's Adventure. It's now available for iOS as a premium title, so if you've been looking for some nostalgic action-adventure fun, this might be worth checking out.

It aims to emulate the look and feel of an action-adventure game from the 90s with a few modern additions such as autosaving, cloud syncing and Game Center achievements. But aside from that, you can expect an old-school adventure with a lovely 8-bit pixel art aesthetic and a classic story featuring wizards, fairies and evil dark lords.

Aruna's Adventure sees the titular blue-haired heroine embarking on a journey with her fairy companion to defeat the Dark Lord who has been infesting the world with a plethora of nasty monsters. Aruna herself can dash, strike and make use of special weapon attacks to battle against this threat.
Terafyn review - “An enchanting card RPG with a powerful, vivid narrative”
The game is made up of 400 handcrafted screens that have been stuck together to create three large overworld areas and six dungeons. Here you'll look to gather coins from defeating enemies and discovering secret chests. You'll then spend your newly found riches on buying gear in shops you'll find scattered through the world.
Which may her suffering ecstasy assuage,

A thousand favours from a maund she drew
The new version of Xcode - the program that developers use to create apps and games for iOS - will let you send apps to your iOS device, even if they haven't been approved by Apple.

This means that you will be able to run apps that wouldn't make it onto the App Store, like emulators, torrent clients, banned games, and other unavailable software.

On the website for Xcode 7, Apple says it's now "easier for everyone to build apps and run them directly on their Apple devices. Program membership is not required."

Previously, only those who paid the £79 / $99 a year development license fee could send unapproved and in-development apps to their devices - and to a handful of approved testers.
Piracy concerns?
But here, developer Bouke van der Bijl shows that it's possible to run Game Boy Advance emulator GBA4iOS - which hasn't worked since iOS 8.1 - on any device, just by importing the source code into Xcode and sending it to an iPhone.

It's not quite as easy as it would be on Android, but that might be to the benefit of developers.

A developer source I spoke to says that requiring the original source code of the app (rather than the compiled .ipa file you download from the App Store) will help avoid piracy of premium apps on the App Store.
Get started
The feature is intended to let developers start building and testing apps before committing to the developer license - but unless Apple changes the implementation, it also allow you to install a much wider array of apps onto your device.

If you want to get started, you can download the Xcode 7 beta from Apple, here.

 Original Post: 05/11/20 11:22
Forager, an open-world adventure game with idle mechanics, is coming to iOS devices today.

In Forager, you spawn in a randomly generated world and have to harvest resources to craft new items, buildings and tools. As you do this, you can level up your skills and earn money, allowing you to expand outwards and find new biomes with tough enemies and challenging temples to solve puzzles in.

The idling elements also come into play in that you will eventually be able to automate a lot of the processes you find yourself doing in the early game, such as using a Mining Rod to collect nearby resources or building a Bank to slowly accumulate gold. The more you play, the easier some activities become.

Forager for mobile was announced earlier this year, but Humble Games has announced its release by tweeting “In Forager you can become friends with all sorts of different animals! iOS will be launching soon. In the meantime, show us your real-life animal companions!” to which its developer HopFrog quoted the tweet by writing “Forager for iOS will be launching soon!”
Forager for iOS will be launching soon! https://t.co/kAXEDygLnX— HopFrog ?? (@_HopFrog) November 5, 2020The game is developed by HopFrog, also known as Mariano Cavallero, who dropped out of school to learn how to make video games. After running out of money multiple times, he eventually was able to create a build of Forager for a Game Jam and managed to go to the United States to show it off, where it eventually landed in front of the eyes of someone from Humble Bundle.

Forager is out today on iOS at 9am PT (about five hours from now). The store page doesn't appear to be up yet but we'll update you when we have more information.

[Update: 11:31am GMT 05/11/20] We previously reported the iOS version of Forager was "coming soon" without a release date attached.
