Oh look, it's Wednesday already. I'm not entirely sure how that's happened, but here we are already revealing the third winner of our prestigious #gameoftheday award for June. Click here to go to our #gameoftheday hub where you can find all the titles that have so far received the accolade.

What's the point in all of this? Well as far as we're concerned here at Pocket Gamer, it's our job to make sure you're always playing the very finest mobile games - and since there are so many of them, there's a chance you've missed one. The #gameoftheday is here to make sure that doesn't happen.

Today's pick is the gory puzzler Slayaway Camp, and we'll tell you more about it in a few sentences. While you're here though, smash a click on this here link and check out our reviews section, which is full of our opinion on the latest mobile and portable games.Slayaway CampWhere other games are about stopping the bad guys, Slayaway Camp is all about embracing the carnage of the dark side. You're playing a hockey mask-clad villain who's out to kill unsuspecting teens at the titular camp.

The game plays out like one of Square Enix's Go games, with you moving your killer around a board in an attempt to kill everyone you can. There are police that'll try and stop you, and traps you can spring to cause even grislier deaths. And trust us when we say the deaths here are already super grisly.

 Update 17.04.2020
A Fold Apart is now available for download on the App Store.
Original story
A Fold Apart is a 3D puzzler that explores couple Robyn and Mark's long-distance relationship. Via inventive, perspective-shifting puzzles, developer Lightning Rod Games weaves what looks to be a must-play narrative adventure.

It's by no means a standard premise for a mobile game, but that's entirely ok with me when the struggle of trying to remain together with a partner through texts and calls while apart seems so deftly handled.
THE WAIT IS OVER! We are so excited to announce that A Fold Apart will be releasing next Friday, April 17, on Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch and Steam! #AppleArcade #IndieGamesCheck out our release trailer!— A Fold Apart/Lightning Rod Games (@LRGthunder) April 9, 2020The basic idea is that each paper-like level is split into two halves, with Robyn on one side and Mark on the other. You'll have to work your way through various tricky environments and fold the paper to find pathways between them. I'd advise that you give the trailer a watch to see how neat this looks in practice.

The constant folding and rustling of papers reminds me a little bit of Media Molecule's Tearaway, which is no bad thing, though the puzzles here are obviously quite different. I love the homemade look to its presentation, and it's already shot right to the top of my "to-play" list.
Have of my suffering youth some feeling pity,

Believed her eyes when they t'assail begun,
Apple Arcade's roster has increased again with its latest addition, Lego Builder's Journey which is now available on the subscription service Its arrival makes it the second Lego game in the library after Lego Brawls.

They're very different entities, however. Whilst Lego Brawls is focused on intense PVP action, Lego Builder's Journey is a much slower-paced, meditative puzzle game. The App Store description describes it as being poetic, which is not something I've associated with Lego before.

The game plays out as a mixture of building various structures as well as creating a path to guide a little Lego character through, not a minifigure though, they're made of various blocks instead. They will only jump to a certain type of block so you'll have to continuously uplift and place them around each level to make the character move.

Sometimes you'll need to use other bricks from around the stage to help you solve the various puzzles too. For instance, if there's a river with no bridge you'll have to pull up bricks from around the level so you can create one.

The character you're guiding throughout the levels can only move and jump a certain distance, so you'll need to bear this in mind as you create a path for them to follow. It is clearly indicated when they can't make a certain jump though as they'll start the motion but then stay rooted in place.

The controls are also intended to be fairly simple. You tap on a brick to pick it up, then tap again if you need to rotate it. From there you'll simply drag it to where you'd like to place it and hold down on the screen.

Lego Builder's Journey is available now on Apple Arcade, which is a gaming subscription service that costs £4.99 per month. To find out more about the other games in its ever-expanding library, check out our dedicated hub page.
Vote for YOUR Game of the Year in the Pocket Gamer People's Choice Award 2020

"You were right not to go in, though, Mistress Blythe. Leslie wouldn't have liked it. She wouldn't have liked me going in with Dick, as I'd have done if I hadn't met you. I had Dick down with me all day. I keep him with me as much as I can to help Leslie a bit."

If you haven't played the Silver Award-winning Transistor yet, why not?

Maybe you played developer Supergiant's previous game Bastion and wasn't keen on it. Or perhaps Transistor's £7.99 / $9.99 asking price was too much.

While we can't promise that Transistor will appeal to those who didn't like Bastion that potential pricing issue has been temporarily alleviated, at least.

Yep, Supergiant has put Transistor on sale for the first time on iOS. For a short time it'll only cost you £3.99 / $4.99. Half price, then.

Our reviewer said that it's "Beautiful to look at, intriguing in most of the right ways, and a lot of fun - Transistor is well worth a look." It also has a talking sword and is very pretty.

That enough to convince you? If not, try reading our whole review. You can purchase Transistor on the App Store.
